Today, on the occasion of Kai's 4th month anniversary, I give this space to my husband so he can express and share some of his most cherished thoughts for his beloved son.
My dear Kai,
Your mother and I love you very much. We would do ANYTHING, for you to be with us right now.
I'm really not sure what to tell you first. I've thought of many things over the years I wanted to tell my children--life lessons and helpful things, which would hopefully shield you from some of the pains experienced during growing up and figuring out life.
We dreamed for you and looked forward to bringing you up in our own way, to teach you to be good, to help guide you into someone we could be proud of, to share who we are, to carry us with you into your future. So our love, a special love your mother and I have found in each other, would have a real meaning in you, in your life.
It is so hard for us to not have you here. There are times I grieve for that lost opportunity to have a father-and-son relationship with you. I really was looking forward to it. I wish I could have known you more. I wish you could have known me. I wish our time together as a family could have been longer. But there are things I can't control and things that I can't fix. I can only accept and love. And I have so much of that for you.
Son, please watch over us from Heaven. And please take special care of your mother. You know, she loves and misses you a lot. So do I.
I miss you, my little buddy.

What a beautiful, loving letter from a father to his son. Sending lots of love and hugs to you and Kai's Daddy.
Thanks for sharing this space with your husband, it's good to hear the father's point of view too. =)
I just realized that Kai and Mikayla died almost the same day, it was 4 months since she's been gone on Friday.
I sent you an email about your Heritage makers book for NILMDTS but haven't heard from you so thought I might have the wrong email address. Email me at melissamterrill at gmail and I can get you set up to make your free book.
